Italian Day 2015

This Year’s Event Highlights

As always, the day’s festivities will include food, displays and shopping to satisfy your craving for everything Italian including over 100 merchants and guest vendors, a line up of food trucks and carts, more than 20 restaurant patios and an array of things to see from Italian honey bees to classic cars and motorcycles. New music programming (by Il Centro) at the Grant Street stage will include Vancouver Opera, theatre, as well as jazz with featured guest, Cory Weeds who will be jazzing it up Italian style. There will be a new 3rd stage in the park with more theme oriented shows, as well as the popular 2nd Avenue Main stage which will feature ‘blow your socks off’ performances by showman Federico Fuoco, and international singer/songwriter, Carmelina Cupo, as well as a not to be missed fashion show, and City Opera Vancouver closing off the performances. And let’s not forget the kids – tons to see and do with arts and crafts in the park (Little Italy Kids zone), Funswing amusement rides, balloon twisting, face painting and so much more throughout the event.

New Attractions and Other Activities
There will be an all-new third stage at Grandview Park, boasting Italian martial arts demonstrations by Blood and Iron, improv by Theatre Temp from Templeton Secondary School, Marionette Puppet Shows by Carnival Sized Cinnamon Hearts, music performances and Italian-inspired contests that will be fun for the whole family!  Grandview Park will also include a Little Italy Kids Zone and Funswing amusement rides.  Other street activities also include the Whitecaps/BMO Fun Zone (with kicking cage), as well as the Car2Go sponsored Bocce Court.

Art on The Street
There will be a variety of artisan vendors from the community representing clothing, jewellery, handmade leather goods, and various other art related components, including an interactive photo-art project at the Britannia Community Centre, as well as guest participant from Granville Island (I’m Impressed Paper Arts Ltd) where people can go and create their own art with materials provided.
