This year were are proud to support Dream Big Productions “Summervisions Film Institute for Youth” with a portion of our raffle ticket sales. Dream Big Productions is a highly visible and very successful program for at risk youth operating out of Templeton Secondary School. Funds raised will go towards purchasing much needed equipment that will be used during the school year and during the summer months.
Jim Crescenzo and Tanya Zambrano are both born from Italian parents and teach at Templeton Secondary school. Jim graduated from Templeton in 1976 and went to UBC to pursue two degrees - a Bachelor of Fine Arts and a Bachelor of Education. He then commenced his teaching career back at Templeton in 1981 and he has been there ever since. Tanya Zambrano went to UBC for her Bachelor of Arts and Education degrees and has been teaching at Templeton since 1995. She has taught in the Theatre and Film programs, alongside Jim since 1997. Together they have built and sustained a very successful Theatre and Film Program that helps all different kinds of teens, especially those at-risk. They have created a program where they hire mentors and professionals to work with the teens in all capacities to help prepare them fully for a Career in Theatre and Film and also to help them learn valuable life skills to take with them in the real world. Their philosophy is to keep “Raising the Bar”, and not to let the young people accept mediocrity. They have both lived and gone to school in the neighborhood and realize the importance of what makes up a community. They know it takes a village to raise a child and they are so grateful to this community.
